MC Plumbing & Heating is helping homeowners across the Tyne Valley make the switch to greener, more energy-efficient heating solutions after achieving MCS Certification — a nationally recognised standard for renewable energy installations.
The company, which serves Northumberland and surrounding areas, says the accreditation reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality renewable heating systems, including air source heat pumps, solar technologies and battery storage solutions.
MCS Certification is regarded as the UK’s benchmark for small-scale renewable energy technologies, ensuring systems are designed and installed to strict industry standards while offering additional consumer protection.
As energy prices remain a major concern for households, MC Plumbing & Heating says more homeowners are now considering alternatives to traditional gas and oil boilers. One increasingly popular option is the air source heat pump, which captures heat from the outside air and transfers it into the home using electricity.
According to the company, modern heat pumps can continue operating efficiently even in temperatures as low as -25°C, while offering a range of environmental and financial benefits. These include efficiency levels exceeding 300 per cent compared to many conventional boilers, lower heating costs, reduced carbon emissions and low maintenance requirements. Systems are also designed with longevity in mind, often lasting more than 15 years.
The business is also encouraging eligible homeowners to take advantage of the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), which offers grants of up to £7,500 towards qualifying low-carbon heating installations in England and Wales. Under the scheme, applications are installer-led, meaning MC Plumbing & Heating manages the process directly on behalf of customers. Heat pump installations currently also benefit from 0% VAT until March 2027.
